Mortgage Lending 2010 - get out thugs coming

The mortgage business was decimated by the housing recession and bond market implosion of 2008. Then regulators like our own Todd Rokita here in Indiana took over and finished the project. They beat on lenders, good and bad. They increased fees, they started shopping receptionists and trying to trap them into saying something wrong and then fining or suing the company.

What has our world come to when a $10 an hour receptionist has to worry about being too nice and answering the questions of a customer? Now Representative Rokita ought to be embarrassed that his staff acted so liberally and like government morons.

I digress ... I'm no longer in the mortgage business. I do still provide some consulting, although in saying that online I'm probably putting myself in the way of a lawsuit by some government flunkie. If you're interested in a mortgage loan in NW Indiana, call James Snyder at 219-762-7200. Don't ask the receptionist for a rate quote though, you'll both end up in jail.

This round robbing of speed blogging is picking up speed, where next? Oh yes, remember the good ole days of down payment assistance on an FHA loan? go there!

Local effort - Keep it in our community

A great real estate office teams with one of my favorite local community groups, can't go wrong. Great work!

Jeanne Sommer/Century 21 Alliance Group donate to 'Keep it in our Community' program:

VALPARAISO Recently Jeanne Sommer of presented two checks to Jennifer Peek and the Porter-Starke Services Foundation through Century 21's "Keep It inOur Community Program." Both donations are a percentage of Sommer's commission on real estate transactions conducted by Porter-Starke Services employees.

Lisa Lemmons, a day treatment specialist, purchased a Chesterton home brokered by Sommer. As an employee of Porter-Starke Services, Lemmons was able to take advantage of savings on closing costs andother perks offered by Century 21 Alliance Group. The partnership between Porter-Starke Services and Century 21 Alliance has shown a marked increase over the past few months.

'The Foundation has already received over $1700 through the KeepIt in the Community Program,' Peek said. 'We are thankful for the ongoing support that Jeanne and the Century 21 Alliance Group has provided us and the programs that we serve.'

Porter-Starke Services is a not-for-profit community mentalhealth center headquartered in Valparaiso, with offices in Knox and Portage. The Porter-Starke Services Foundation supports mental wellness initiatives throughout the community.
